SILVER SPRING, MD, November 3, 2011 - It’s inevitable. It comes with the new mother badge of honor – laundry, and lots of it. Now that your little one is here, you may feel like your life has become full of three things, feedings, dirty diaper, and laundry. Whether it’s spit-up, diaper leaks and blowouts or drool, babies go through a lot of clothes…and changing pads and crib sheets and swaddle blankets and bibs, and the list goes on. So, when it comes to laundry, you think it’s pretty straight forward right? Here are some considerations when assessing what to wash when, and how to wash those things.
Pre-wash
Wash baby clothing and cloth products before you put your infant init or on it. There can be all sorts of irritants on clothing coming from stores, not to mention germs. Chemicals can be left on the fabric from the factory, as well as dirt from the packing and shipping process. Bacteria and virus can wind up on the clothing from the hands of shoppers and clerks that may have handled the product.
