Rapid City’s stingy penalty kill and its steaming top-line
attack continued to frustrate the Arizona Sundogs on Thursday
night.
Jesse Schultz and Shawn Limpright combined for three goals and
three
assists, with linemate Mike Vaskivuo adding two more assists to
help the Rush continue their dominance over the Sundogs with a 6-2
victory at the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center Ice Arena.
Konrad Reeder also scored twice, and Les Reaney added the ninth
short-handed goal for Rapid City (14-11-1) this season.
Rapid City’s penalty kill denied Arizona for the second straight
night on the man-advantage.
The Rush quelled two chances on Thursday, including the final 3
minutes of a fighting major in a short-tempered contest.
After backstopping Rapid City to a 4-2 win on Wednesday, Tim
Boron earned his second straight in net, turning aside 32-of-34
shots to improve to 7-4.
“In the first period, they outshot us 14-7. He made some
unbelievable saves,” Rush head coach Joe Ferras said.
